Latin Jazz Beyond Borders

Formed in 1995 by flutist Jessica Valiente, bassist Anna Milat-Meyer, and percussionist Yasuyo Kimura, the ensemble quickly grew from performances of classic Afro-Cuban jazz standards to composing their own daring originals that pushed beyond the borders of typical Latin jazz.  Today, they play rootsy, pulsating music from every corner of Latin America and the Caribbean --  from Cuba and Puerto Rico to Haiti and Jamaica, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, the Dominican Republic... developing appealing new sounds while remaining true to tradition. 

Their unique sound has made them and NYC local favorite while winning them an international reputation; their five commercial releases receive airplay all over the US, as well as in Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Canada, Japan, Eastern Europe, with glowing reviews in six languages from critics all over the world.
